Dr. Magda David Hercheui 

Dr. Magda David Hercheui is Senior Lecturer in Project Management at Westminster Business School (University of Westminster, UK) and visiting researcher at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE). She holds a PhD in Information Systems and an MSc in New Media, Information and Society (both from LSE), an MBA in Finance (Ibmec, Brazil) and BA degrees in Journalism and in Economics (University of São Paulo, Brazil).

Magda worked in Brazilian media companies between 1987 and 2003, in many roles, from reporter and commentator to editor and product manager. In this period, she covered issues related to Economics and Finance, writing for newspapers, magazines and broadcast services, and being a commentator in television and radio. At Agência Estado, the most important broadcast service for financial markets in Brazil, she worked for ten years (1993-2003) developing services for banks, corporations, agricultural markets and individual investors. In this company, Magda developed both content and related information systems, being responsible for creating methodologies for collecting and treating data, databases (numerical and textual), and many information services to different organizations and industries.

Since 2003, Magda has centred her work on researching organizations (including virtual communities), information systems and information and knowledge management, from the perspective of social, business and technical systems. She understands that the process of innovation in contemporary society demands fine-tuning business objectives, technology and social responsibility, including human development and respect for the environment. Magda focuses her research and consulting activities on the use of Information and Communication Technologies for managing information, knowledge and innovation for sustainability. She also researches virtual communities and social networks, and the use of social media (Web 2.0) for social and business objectives.
