Action
Learning
Action Learning (AL) has been widely used for
over fifty years as a highly effective problem
solving and personal development process. It is
a form of learning "from doing", where the
classroom is the job environment or an
individual’s personal surroundings, and where
emphasis is placed on an individual’s
responsibility for their own learning, although
supportive but challenging learning partnerships
are made available. More recently it has been
used to provide a common language for knowledge
sharing and sense making particularly in
networks and groups e.g. communities of
practice.
Since the mid-90's TLA has been at the
forefront in the introduction and implementation
of AL in Canada through its sponsorship of the
Canadian Chapter of
The
International Foundation for Action Learning
(IFAL), and internationally in collaboration
with other IFAL Chapters and AL collaboratives.
TLA’s Staff Consultants and/or Associates make available AL consultancy,
familiarization workshops, process groups, and
facilitator training and certification
programmes.
Together with its worldwide partners TLA has
