Dr.
Haris Papoutsakis
Professor
Haris Papoutsakis (Greece) is an academic
faculty member in the School of Applied
Technology at the TEI of Crete since 1986. Prior
to that, and holding an Electrical Engineering
Degree from the National Technical University of
Athens (NTUA) and an MBA from the Athens
Graduate School of Economics and Business
Science, he worked as Field Sales Engineer with
Mobil Oil and Hewlett-Packard and later as
Private Sales Manager with IT&T.
Apart from lecturing at TEI, he has conducted a
number of seminars on topics related to
improving Industrial Business Management and has
extensively lectured, as a visiting Professor,
in many EU, ex-Eastern Europe and Latin American
universities on Marketing, Management and Total
Quality Management. Since 1994, he has
participated in numerous Erasmus, Leonardo,
Tempus and ALFA projects, funded by the European
Union.
After completing his PhD at the Polytechnic
University of Catalonia (2005), he produced
eight articles in academic journals, presented
22 more in peer reviewed conferences and
authored, co-authored or translated seven books,
in English, Spanish and French. Apart from
French, which is a language he has been taught
but has never really practiced, he can work in
both English and Spanish.
His area of research relates to innovation,
entrepreneurship, Total Quality and Knowledge
Management with a focus on the best use of
Information & Communication Technologies for the
improvement of industrial inter-departmental
relationships and the acquisition of
work-related knowledge and skills in education
and training. Since 1996 he serves as Honorary
Treasurer at the WOCATE (World Council of
Associations for Technology Education) Board of
Directors.
